Simon King
Simon King is Professor of Speech Processing at the University of Edinburgh, where he is director of the Centre for Speech Technology Research and of a long-running Masters programme in Speech and Language Processing. He has research interests in speech synthesis, speech recognition, speaker verification spoofing, and signal processing, with over 200 publications. He co-authored the Festival speech synthesis toolkit and made contributions to Merlin. He is a Fellow of IEEE and of ISCA. Currently Simon is Associate Editor for Computer Speech and Language, and has been the lead organiser of the annual Blizzard Challenge speech synthesis evaluations for over a decade. He previously served as Associate Editor for IEEE Trans Audio Speech & Language Proc, member of the IEEE Spoken Language Technical Committee, board member of ISCA Speech Synthesis SIG, and lead Area Chair for speech synthesis at Interspeech 2019. Simon is also an advisor to AI dubbing company Papercup.
